James W. Reed, MD is a Professor of Medicine, Associate Chair of Medicine for Research and Chief of Endocrinology and the Internal Medicine Services for Morehouse School of Medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital.
The Endocrinology Section of the Department of Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine provides services for the care of outpatients at Grady Memorial Healthcare System and Morehouse Medical Associates.
Endocrinology focuses on disorders of hormone secretion, especially diabetes and thyroid disease. Adrenal diseases, including Cushing's syndrome and adrenal insufficiency, parathyroid conditions, pituitary disorders, gonadal disorders, and problems with calcium metabolism are also a focus of this Specialty: Evaluation and management of these conditions, as well as evaluation and management of hypertension, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and unexplained fatigue are areas of clinical focus for this division.
Patients are assessed by appointment in the ambulatory clinics and by consultation on hospital services. Residents and students assigned to this service see patients in these settings.
Faculty research interests include diabetes, hypertension, and metabolic syndrome.
