Overview
The Center of Excellence for the Validation of Digital Health Technologies and Clinical Algorithms (Center for Digital Health), led by Drs. Muhammed Idris, PhD and Marilyn Foreman, MD, is supported as part of a 10-year commitment by Novartis and other partners as part of the Beacon of Hope Initiative to focus on research on intersection of race and equity within the context of emerging digital health technologies, including AI/ML, development and application if bas-free digital technologies, and training of scientists and leaders to inform quality prevention, clinical care, and health policy guidance.
Mission
To advance health equity in digital health research and train the next generation of leaders to promote bias-free, equity-informed digital health research to improve health equity among communities of color.
Core Pillars
Identify best-practices around the use of digital health that drive diagnosis, clinical trial endpoints, and population health policy in underrepresented communities.
- Validate clinical algorithms, artificial intelligence/machine learning models, and medical diagnostic tools against bias.
- Train the next generation of diverse biomedical scientists in data science and health disparities.
