About Us
The Quality and Equity in Surgical Treatment (QUEST) Center at Morehouse School of Medicine is a community of faculty, clinicians, academic and community researchers, and stakeholders focused on quality and equity in surgery, and perioperative care. The Center addresses the myriad of factors associated with surgical outcomes, and their impact on patients, staff, and communities. The center conducts diverse research, including basic science and practical applications, and offers educational programs to train future health equity leaders. Additionally, the center advocates for policy changes to ensure sustainable improvements in care.
Mission
To provide quality and equitable surgical services to patients in the state of Georgia and beyond.
Defining Quality: The degree to which surgical care is safe, effective, timely, efficient, equitable, and person-centered. It's defined as the likelihood that health care services will increase desired health outcomes and are consistent with current professional knowledge.
Defining Equity: Patients should receive care based on their unique circumstances and background, rather than being provided with the same resources regardless of their background.
Vision
Be the world’s authority and trusted partner in surgical outcomes, creating a community of the most healthy and satisfied patients.
