Morehouse School of Medicine sponsors approximately 140 residents in seven accredited programs. We are committed to providing quality graduate medical education through teaching in a major level-one trauma center with a diverse patient population and an outstanding faculty.
Individuals applying for our residency programs must meet the following criteria:
- U.S. citizen, resident alien, or able to obtain J1 Exchange Visitor status
- Hold a medical degree from an accredited medical school
*If you hold a degree from an international medical school, a valid Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates Certificate (ECFMG) is required. - Applicants with I-675 Employment Authorization Cards (EAD) are eligible to apply
- In addition to these requirements, each program has specific eligibility requirements that must be satisfied
If you meet the aforementioned criteria, please follow the steps below to complete and/or submit the following required documents:
Step 1
Apply through National Residency Matching Program: U.S. Allopathic Senior Medical Students seeking PGY 1-Categorical Residency Positions
will be through the Match.
Step 2
Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) Application: Must submit prior to deadlines (Public Health and Preventive Medicine applicants
may use the program's application — please contact Carla Durham at cdurham@msm.edu for more information).
Step 3
Curriculum Vitae: ERAS CV accepted. Must be in professional, physician format with
a photograph.
Step 4
USMLE: Step 2 CK Score 80 or above for Internal Medicine and Family Medicine. Must pass
Step 2 CS prior to entry into all programs.
Step 5
Three letters of reference: Educational and/or clinical letters must be written within
18 Months of application.
Step 6
Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates Certificate: Must be final prior to or on Match Day.
