SEPTEMBER 21, 2018 - With the official start of a new academic year serving as the backdrop, MSM President and Dean Valerie Montgomery Rice, M.D., announced today that the school has launched a new dual-degree program in partnership with the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Scheller College of Business that will enable MSM MD students to complete their medical and business degrees in just five years.

MSM Among Institutions to Receive $1.8 Million to Launch Research Education Program on Addiction and Pregnancy
AUGUST 23, 2018 - Researchers at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) at the University of Pittsburgh, Emory University and San Diego State University (SDSU) receive a $1.8 million grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to train the next generation of biomedical researchers to study addiction mechanisms relevant to improving treatment options for pregnant women who have substance abuse addictions and babies suffering from drug withdrawal.

JULY 23, 2018 - The Student National Medical Association (SNMA) recently announced the appointment of Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) student Chidimma Acholonu as Community Service National Committee Co-Chair. Acholonu is a fourth year M.D. student. She was appointed to the position during SNMA's Annual Medical Education Conference this spring.

Unrest in Haiti Causes MSM to Cancel Student Medical Mission
JULY 12, 2018 - A planned Morehouse School of Medicine student medical mission trip to Haiti, an annual event for a decade, has been cancelled due to civil unrest as protesters took to the streets of the island nation following recent fuel price hikes ordered by the government. The situation has already left several U.S. missionary groups stranded, according to the U.S. State Department and reports from CNN.
