ATLANTA – March 16, 2018 – For the second year in a row, 100 percent (76) of Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) fourth-year medical students were among those matching to fill leading residency programs at hospitals across the nation.

Match Day is an annual rite of passage across the United States. Two-thirds (67 percent) of MSM students matched to primary care specialties, a reflection of MSM’s training mission. Faculty, staff, students and families celebrated the achievements of the future doctors in a joyous heartwarming ceremony on the school’s campus.

During the ceremony, students received personalized letters showing where they matched for their residency. They matched to prominent medical centers across the country, including, but not limited to, Emory University School of Medicine, Kaiser Permanente, and Rutgers - New Jersey Medical School. This year also saw the largest percentage of students (23.7 percent, 18 students) selecting to stay at MSM to continue their residency.

“When you open that envelope, you open the door of your future, the door of opportunity, the door of a paycheck, the door of success and the door of history,“ said President and Dean Valerie Montgomery Rice, M.D. “Your future is bright, you came through these MSM doors to make a difference, and to change the uneven landscape of health care, and we expect  to see you do it!”
