MSM to Host Men's Heart Healthy Breakfast and Women with Heart Luncheon
16th Annual MSM Heart Healthy Week events highlight the importance of cardiovascular health and raise funds for MSM student scholarships.
ATLANTA, GA – JANUARY 28, 2025 – As Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) celebrates 50 years of shaping the future of health equity, the institution will host two signature events during its 16th Annual Heart Healthy Week: the Men's Heart Healthy Breakfast on Tuesday, February 4, and the Women with Heart Luncheon on Wednesday, February 5.
For the first time ever, the 2025 Men’s Heart Healthy Breakfast will take place at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame, located at 250 Marietta St NW, Atlanta, GA 30313. The breakfast will focus on the vital connection between sleep apnea and heart health. Experts in sleep medicine and cardiology will facilitate an in-depth conversation that explores the impacts of sleep quality on cardiovascular wellness and the importance of early detection and intervention. 11Alive news anchor Jonathan Martin will serve as the master of ceremonies.
The following day, MSM's Women with Heart Luncheon will return to the Oceans Ballroom at the Georgia Aquarium, located at 225 Baker Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30313. In addition to remarks from Morehouse School of Medicine President and CEO Valerie Montgomery Rice, MD, FACOG, and the event's co-chairs, the luncheon will feature an engaging panel discussion designed to inspire healthier lives. WSB-TV news anchor Karyn Greer will serve as the mistress of ceremonies and Mrs. Billye Suber Aaron, a longtime MSM benefactor, will deliver the invocation.
Morehouse School of Medicine's Heart Healthy Week coincides with American Heart Month, which is observed in February each year. The breakfast and luncheon are part of the Women with Heart Initiative, a volunteer support organization founded in 2009 to raise scholarship funds for MSM students, promote healthy lifestyles and increase community awareness about heart health and cardiovascular disease. Over the past 16 years, the Women with Heart Initiative and its generous donors have provided over $1.25 million in scholarship support to MSM students, with more than 150 individual students receiving scholarship awards.
