Student Accommodation Process
Welcome to the Office of Individualized Learning & Accessibility Services We are excited to launch our new platform Accommodate for accessibility services!

Register & Complete the Intake Form
Register with OILAS via Accommodate
- Learners seeking accommodations must register with OILAS through the Accommodate platform.
- OILAS will acknowledge receipt of registration within 48 business hours.
*If you already registered with Accessibility Services and have existing accommodations
but need to request additional accommodations, please login to your Accommodate account and upload supporting documentation.*
Schedule an Intake Appointment
Learners must schedule an intake appointment with the Access Manager/Coordinator. The intake appointment includes:
- Discussion of the accommodations request process
- Overview of learner rights, responsibilities, and accommodation implementation
- Guidance on using Accommodate to manage accommodations
- Review of submitted medical documentation (if provided at registration)

Documentation Submission
How Do I Submit Documentation?
- The student should create an account in Accommodate, our data management system.
- When required, the student should upload their supporting medical documentation, through the Accommodate portal by logging in with their MSM logon credentials.
- Documentation must be uploaded to Accommodate or submitted from the provider via a HIPAA-compliant email to oilas@msm.edu. (.pdf file format is most preferred).
Learners must provide documentation from a licensed healthcare provider, including:
- Provider’s name, credentials, and license number
- Learner’s diagnosed disability/condition
- DSM-V-TR criteria/ICD code associated with the condition
- Specific recommended accommodations
The learner should also sign the authorization form located in the Forms section and upload the authorization form to Accommodate."

Documentation Review
Interactive Process and Accommodation Determination
- Upon receipt of complete medical documentation, your intake form and any supporting medical documentation submitted is reviewed. If additional information/ documentation is needed, Accessibility Services staff will follow up with you. If OILAS does not need additional information/ documentation, OILAS will initiate the interactive process with the academic program.
- A decision will be rendered within 7 business days (goal: within 24-48 hours).
- Approved learners will receive an official accommodation letter via Accommodate.

Following a Decision
Access and Dissemination of Accommodation Letters
- A letter to faculty with approved accommodations will be available in the student’s Accommodate portal. A signature is required to access this letter.
- Students are responsible for sending their letter to the faculty for the course experience(s) that the accommodation(s) are for. It is recommended that the student schedule an appointment to meet with faculty to discuss the implementation of accommodations in their course(s).
- Learners must provide the letter to faculty/staff at least 7 business days before accommodations are needed for implementation.
** ACCOMMODATIONS are not RETROACTIVE

- OILAS securely stores all accommodation records in compliance with FERPA and institutional policies.
