Student Accommodation Process

Welcome to the Office of Inclusive Learning & Accessibility Services We are excited to launch our new platform Accommodate for accessibility services!

Step 1

Register with OILAS and Complete the Intake Form

For MSM Learners not yet registered for accommodations wit our office, please create an account on our Accommodate Portal by completing the intake form and submitting supporting medical documentation. Please upload your documentation in Accommodate. If you need assistance, email us at oilas@msm.edu

*If you already registered with Accessibility Services and have existing accommodations but need to request additional accommodations, please login to your Accommodate account and upload supporting documentation.*

How Do I Submit Documentation?

  • The student should create an account in Accommodate, our data management system.
  • When required, the student should upload their supporting medical documentation, through the Accommodate portal by logging in with their MSM logon credentials. Uploading documents in .pdf file format is most preferred.
  • The learner should sign the authorization form located in the Forms section and upload the authorization form to Accommodate."
  • Need help? Contact our office at oilas@msm.edu with any questions or concerns.
Step 2

Communication from Accessibility Services Staff

After you submit, you will receive an automated message from Accommodate thanking you for setting up your account.

The Accessibility Services staff will communicate with you to set up an interactive meeting.

Please allow 24-48 hours for this process, depending on the time of year. During this interactive process, OILAS can review the supporting medical documents. If there are any discrepancies or a need for clarification, OILAS may reach out to the provider for further information

  • Example: If a provider writes that the learner needs breaks during class and/or examinations, we can contact the provider during this time to request they update the letter to specify the number of breaks and when they should occur.
Step 3

Documentation Review by Accessibility Services Staff

Your intake form and any supporting medical documentation submitted is reviewed.

If additional information is needed, Accessibility Services staff will follow up with you.

Have questions?

  • Contact our office at oilas@msm.edu with any questions or concerns.
Step 4

After Review

If there are no questions, the Accessibility Services Staff will deploy the Interactive process and meet with the program to determine if the accommodations requested can be reasonably accommodated.

** Please allow 7 business days for a decision to be made once Steps 1 through 3 have been completed with no clarifying questions from Accessibility Services Staff. **

Step 5

Following an Approval

  • A letter to faculty with approved accommodations will be available in the student’s Accommodate portal. A signature is required to access this letter.
  • Students are responsible for sending their letter to the faculty for the course experience(s) that the accommodation(s) are for. It is recommended that the student schedule an appointment to meet with faculty to discuss the implementation of accommodations in their course(s).
  • If you need any support discussing accommodations with your faculty, please contact Accessibility Services.

** Please allow up to a week for your approved accommodations to be implemented. **
