Commencement Details

We are delighted to announce that Morehouse School of Medicine’s 37th Commencement Exercises will be held IN PERSON with family, friends, alumni, and other MSM community members invited to join in the celebration. To accomplish that and simultaneously follow CDC COVID-19 protocols, we are excited to be going off campus for the first time ever, moving the ceremony to the Cadence Bank Amphitheatre at Chastain Park.  

MSM’s first-ever off-campus ceremony will feature our 2021 Commencement speaker, U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA), Dr. Warnock made history when he prevailed in the closely watched Jan. 5 run-off, becoming Georgia’s first Black senator and the first Black Democratic senator from the South. We look forward to hearing his message to the Class of 2021.

This year’s exercises are noteworthy in other ways too. The Class of 2021 includes the inaugural class of 100 MDs in our “Road to 100” initiative, who entered MSM on June 28, 2017. And we will be celebrating returning members of MSM’s first classes – 1978, ’79 and ’80 – as part of Alumni and Constituent Engagement’s Reunion Week 2021.  

We also will hold our traditional Commencement Week events, By These Healing Hands and Class Day. Both take place virtually on Friday, May 14, beginning at 10 am and 3 pm respectively. 

We are still finalizing the many logistical details that come with the move to Chastain Park. Be sure to check back frequently for more details as they become official.

Parking & Transportation

Shuttle service will be provded to/from the Commencement Ceremony. We strongly urge you to utilize this service as  traffic in Atlanta around the Cadence Bank Amphitheatre is known to be busier at times of major events. Please plan accordingly and review the following page for parking and transportation details.
