MSM's Community Health and Preventive Medicine Department will be the lead health partner assisting the Atlanta Housing Authority in health
care outreach as it utilizes the $30 million Choice grant recently awarded to the
City of Atlanta by HUD. <<MORE>>
On September 26, 2015, SHLI Health Policy Division Program Manager L. Lerissa Smith participated as a panelist with leaders in the fields of STEM, public health, and
policy on a discussion titled "Innovative Private-Public Partnerships to Foster Youth
Engagement in STEM Fields" at the inaugural Global Youth Health Summit 2015 (GYHS2015).
GYHS2015 was hosted by the Emory Global Health, Education and Economic Development
Program in partnership with MDJunior - a student-run, non-profit leadership society

On September 22, 2015, SHLI Community Voices Director Starla H. Blanks presented at the Challenging Obesity in Our Girls Forum hosted by the Center Helping
Obesity In Children End Successfully (C.H.O.I.C.E.S.). The event was focused on increasing
obesity prevention programs in our community, implementing proven approaches in children's
mental health, evaluating obesity behavior modification programs and utilizing technology
to find zip code-based health data. <<MORE>>

Announcements
On September 1, MSM Travel & Expense implemented the travel phase of its new premier travel and expense system, Concur. Concur is available to all MSM employees who travel on official MSM business and
will implement the expense phase starting October 1.
In an effort to increase the overall efficiencies at MSM, the Operations Department
has launched its Operational Excellence initiative and provided a webpage and email link to the MSM community as a new communication tool to provide suggestions for process
improvements.
MSM just purchased a year-long membership to AI Pro, a service from Academic Impressions (AI) offering access to a variety of professional
