MSM on a Mission
On October 20, 2015, Drs. Virginia Floyd, Brian McGregor and Gilberte Bastien were invited to participate in the welcoming of Liberian Vice President H.E. Joseph N. Boakai Sr. and his delegation during the MSM-hosted "Conversations and Coffee." While at MSM,
VP Boakai spoke about the effects of the Ebola virus on his country, the strides made to combat it and the country's health care delivery system needs.
Several MSM faculty members attended the AAMC Minority Faculty Career Development
Seminar, the AAMC Mid-Career Minority Faculty Development Seminar, and the AAMC Grant
Writers Coaching Group for NIH Awards from September 17-21, 2015. Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice gave the opening keynote address with Dean of Emory University School of Medicine

Dr. Rachel Harris has been invited as panelist on Women in Cardiology at the scientific meeting of the Georgia chapter of the American College of Cardiology
in November 2015. Additionally, Dr. Harris is currently at the 2015 National CHEST Conference in Montreal, Canada speaking on the following two topics: “Does the Racial Disparity
in Sleep Disorders Explain the Variability in Cardiovascular Disease?” and “The Increased
Prevalence of Cardiovascular Disease in Minority Populations.”
Fourth-year students Mr. Wali Johnson, Mr. Edward Missinne, and Ms. Adaka Uso-Okereke have been elected 2015-2016 Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society co-presidents and 2015-2016 Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society vice president
at MSM, respectively.

Flu vaccine for all MSM employees and students available Oct. 13 - Nov. 15, 2015 at the CRC (Tues. & Thurs. 12:30 - 4 pm); Student Employee Health Services - IC/Buggyworks (Mon. & Wed. 9 am - 5 pm); and Howell Mill (Oct. 19, 21, 23, 26, 28 and 30 at 9 am - 12 pm & 2 pm - 4 pm).
On September 1, MSM Travel & Expense implemented the travel phase of its new premier travel and expense system, Concur. Concur is available to all MSM employees who travel on official business and implemented
its expense phase on October 1.
In an effort to increase the overall efficiencies at MSM, the Operations Department
has launched its Operational Excellence initiative and provided a webpage and email link to the MSM community as a new communication tool to provide suggestions for process
improvements.
MSM just purchased a year-long membership to AI Pro, a service from Academic Impressions (AI) offering access to a variety of professional
