VickersonDr. Bakari Vickerson, professor of psychiatry, was interviewed by WSB Radio on Sunday, December 7, 2014. The topics discussed were holiday depression, common mental health issues and what to do if you suspect a loved one has mental health problems.

MSM on a Mission

Dr. Yasmin Tyler-Hill, professor of pediatrics, was awarded the Pinnacle Award of Excellence in the Medicine/Healthcare Category at the 2014 Pinnacle Awards & Scholarship Gala on Friday, December 5, 2014.

Dr. Harry Heiman's, director of health policy, Satcher Health Leadership Institute,  blog post titled, "Why Zip Codes Matter: Advancing Health Equity in All Policies," was featured on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Human Capital Blog.

Dr. David Satcher co-authored an article published in The Lancet titled, "Emerging Crisis: Non-Communicable Diseases."

The MSM alumni had their annual holiday breakfast on Saturday, December 6, 2014, in the Medical Education Building lobby.

The Center for Disease Control awarded Dr. Rakale C. Quarells $1.2 million to study epilepsy self-management and depression among African Americans.  The project is seeking to hire a student with an interest in epilepsy. If interested, please contact Venice Haynes at (404) 756-8832.

On display through December 12, 2014, the Seeking to Tell a Story: Political Action from Slavery to Civil Rights exhibit, highlighting black political action in Georgia related to the civil rights movement, is on display at the Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library’s Archives Research Center.
