GHA MSM CelebrationOn December 17, 2015, MSM and Global Health Alliance to host a health equity discussion with the AIDS Task Force focusing on current challenges with growing transmission rates, and celebrate Dr. Elizabeth Ofili's election to the National Academy of Medicine. Dr. Louis Sullivan will give the keynote address.

 

Angelica GeterOn December 7, 2015, SHLI Health Policy Leadership Fellow Angelica Geter, PhD, MPH, gave her presentation "Similarities and Differences in Sexual Risk Behavior Between Young Black Men Who Have Sex with Men Who Do and Do Not Have Sex with Women" at the 2015 National HIV Prevention Conference at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

 

Satcher on Dr OzOn Tuesday, December 15th, Dr. David Satcher will be a guest on Dr. Oz where he will be discussing how parents can, and should, talk with their children about drug use and abuse.

ROEOOn December 10, 2015, the Reach One Each One Youth Mentoring and Medical Exposure Program for local high school students graduated its fifth class at Grady's Marcus Trauma Auditorium. In attendance were Drs. Omar Danner, Derrick Beech and Ed Childs.

 

MSM Celebrity Phone-A-ThonThe Office of Institutional Advancement's inaugural MSM Celebrity Phone-A-Thon on December 10, 2015 was a success as Dr. Montgomery Rice, her executive leadership team, and MSM faculty, staff and students reached out alumni to raise money for the student scholarship fund and also win prizes in the process. The event raised a total of  $14,092. Prize winners were Samia Robertson (raised most funds), Daniel Dawes (received the first gift), and Kathy Odom (last caller).
