On July 27, 2016, three MSM students -- Tejumola Apata, Hilton Mozee and Ashley Ojeaga -- received awards at the 2016 Summer Institute Cancer Research Training Program

Dr. Natalie Hernandez and community partner, Keri M. Pridgeon, VP of the Center for Black Women’s Wellness,
were selected among 12 community-academic pairs from across the country to participate
in the 2016 Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) Partnership Academy. <<MORE>>
On July 15, 2016, Dr. Oluwatoyosi Adekeye was the keynote speaker at the Alabama Conference of Black Mayors (ACBM) stakeholders
meeting where he discussed the need for improved health leadership and healthy communities
in Alabama. <<MORE>>
The SHLI Community Voices division's article titled “Community Engaged Lifestyle Modification Research: Engaging
Diabetic and Prediabetic African American Women in Community-Based Interventions,”
by authors Starla Hairston Blanks, Henrie Treadwell, PhD, Anya Bazzell, Whitney Graves, Olivia Osaji, Juanita Dean (Columbia Urban League), James T. McLawhorn (Columbia Urban League),
and Jareese Lee Stroud, was recently published in the Journal of Obesity. <<MORE>>
Dr. Oluwatoyosi Adekeye was awarded a $15,000 grant by the Atlanta Foundation/Wells Fargo to support the
proposal: Community Health Leadership Program: Addressing Health Disparities in Fulton
County through Health Leadership Development.
Morehouse School of Medicine alumnus Dr. John Macon was recently elected Chief Resident of his residency program in Family Medicine at
Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA.

Community Health Worker (CHW) Chronic Disease Self-Management and Prevention Train-the-Trainer
