Current Residents



Dr. Brittnie Fowler, Chief Resident

Dr. Fowler completed her medical school training in the Dominican Republic at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE).  After graduating, she spent time backpacking across Europe and working for a youth-sailing program aboard Spirit of Bermuda.  Dr. Fowler's post-residency goals are to practice General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  She would also like to pursue an MPH degree with hopes of using the skills gained to help form programs back home in Bermuda and here in Georgia.


Dr. Simran Brar, Chief Resident

Dr. Brar graduated from Windsor University School of Medicine.  She plans to pursue a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  She also has a keen interest in psychotherapy and will be pursuing further training in psychoanalysis.  Dr. Brar has been closely involved in many professional organizations including the Georgia Association of Physicians of Indian Heritage and Indo-American Psychiatric Association.


Dr. Swathi Krishna

Dr. Krishna attended Washington University in St. Louis for her undergraduate studies in Business and subsequently, worked in field of Marketing and Information Technology.  After five years, she decided to change course and fulfill a lifelong passion and received her MD from American University of Antigua.  She is currently an American Psychiatric Association SAMSHA Fellow. She was accepted into Emory's Child and Adolescent Fellowship program which she will begin later this fall.


Dr. Vipan Kumar

Dr. Kumar completed his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at York College CUNY (City University of New York).  After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Kumar received his Medical Degree  from Windsor University School of Medicine.  His post-residency goals are to practice emergency and community psychiatry as well as medical student and graduate medical education.




Dr. Otega Edukuye

Dr. Edukuye completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Clayton State University.  After completing his undergraduate studies, Otega attended  and graduated from Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Edukuye's post-residency interests include forensic and addiction psychiatry as well as medical student and graduate medical education.  Dr. Edukuye's hobbies include yoga, painting, billiards, social events and travel.


Dr. Christopher Hoffman

Dr. Hoffman is a native of Tuskegee, Alabama.  Dr. Hoffman received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama where he graduated cum laude. He received his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine.  After residency, Dr. Hoffman plans to pursue a fellowship in Addiction and Community Psychiatry to better serve the great city of Atlanta.

Dr. Kevin Simon

Dr. Simon is originally from Brooklyn, NY and completed his Bachelor degree in Biology and Sociology at Morgan State University. Before receiving his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, the NIH awarded Dr. Simon a research fellowship where he studied implementation of innovative health service systems for pediatric populations.  He is currently an APA Public Psychiatry Fellow and Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry Fellow.  Dr. Simon has published in academic journals including AntiCancer Drugs, Health Affairs, and Psychiatric Services.  He has also contributed to policy briefs disseminated by the Kennedy Forum.  Dr. Simon currently serves as MSM/GME Resident Association President and is the resident representative on the Grady Memorial Hospital Medical Ethics Committee.  Dr. Simon wants to pursue a career in public psychiatry, health services research and policy.

Dr. Rashad Smith

Christopher Rashad Smith, B.S., M.D., is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina who completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in Erskine College, where he graduated magna cum laude and served as an American Multicultural Society Ambassador and concertmaster of the Chamber Sinfonia.  While receiving his medical doctorate from the Medical University of South Carolina, he served as Vice President of the Multicultural Student Advisory Board, Vice President of the Psychiatry Interest Group and received the James B. Edwards Scholarship Award.  He currently serves as the MSM Residency Association Member-at-Large and is the resident representative on the Graduate Medical Education Committee on Patient Safety and Quality Improvement.  He is a member of the Physicians for Criminal Justice Reform, the American Psychiatry Association, and the Georgia Psychiatric Physicians' Association.  Dr. Smith's post-residency interests include Addiction, Psychosomatic/Consultation Liaison and Community Psychiatry fellowships. He is also interested in transitional/clinical research, medical student/graduate medical education, and community mentorship to better serve the Atlanta University Center Consortium, as well as the greater Atlanta area.



Dr. Olasupo Adedapo

Dr. Adedapo was born in Nigeria and raised in Atlanta, Georgia.  He complete his undergraduate and Master Degrees in biological sciences from Georgia State University.  He was a fellow with the Bio-Bus program at GSU, a mobile science outreach program.  He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.  His post-residency interests include Addiction and Community Psychiatry.  Interests outside Psychiatry include mentorships, travel, extreme sports, video games and technology.

Dr. Je Ajayi

Dr. Ajayi is a native of Albany, Georgia by way of Nigeria.  He graduated from the University of Georgia with a BS in Biology and a Master's in Science Education.  During college, he performed in music theatre and played in a jazz/R&B band that he created.  He received his Medical Doctorate from the Medical College of Wisconsin.  Dr. Ajayi plans to pursue a fellowship in Child and Adolescent psychiatry and increase his experience in Internal Medicine in order to be the most well-rounded physician that he can possibly be.  He has dreams of improving mental health awareness in West Africa and often travels there to assist with medical mission trips. Outside of residency, Je enjoys singing, working out, traveling and spending time with his family.


Dr. Jay Bhimani

Dr. Bhimani graduated from Lviv National Medical University in the Ukraine.  After graduation, he practiced medicine in India for a few years then came to the US to fulfill his dream of becoming a psychiatrist.  Post-residency, Jay plans to pursue a fellowship in either addiction psychiatry to better serve the community.  Interests outside of residency include playing cricket and following Indian Cricket Team (Bleed Blue).

Dr. Siddharth Shah

Dr. Shah is a native Atlantan where he graduated from Georgia Tech.  After a few years of working in the IT field, he decided to go to medical school and graduated from St. George's University.  His current interest in Psychiatry is psychoanalysis.  Outside of medicine, Dr. Shah enjoys music, whether listening or playing the guitar and/or piano.  He also enjoys tinkering with cars and technology.




Dr. Jeala Barnett

Dr. Barnett is a native of Birmingham, Alabama.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Alabama.  She attended MEDPREP, a post-baccalaureate program at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and subsequently matriculated into SIUSOM to receive her medical doctorate.  While in her post-baccalaureate program, she also received her MPH in community health.  Dr. Barnett's interest in psychiatry include:  addiction, forensics, mental health in the African-American community, cultural competence, and LGBTQ.  Outside of medicine, she enjoys working out, bowling, mentoring, spending time with family, Alabama football (ROLL TIDE!) and traveling.


Dr. Kendra Michel

Dr. Kendra Michel is a native from Asbury Park, NJ.  Dr. Michel received her Bachelor of Science from Ohio University.  She then earned her Masters in Biomedical Sciences from Rutgers University.  She received her medical doctorate from the American University of Antigua College of Medicine.  Her current interests in Psychiatry include women's health, HIV, and LGBTQ.  Outside of residency, Kendra enjoys spending time with family, journaling and photography.


Dr. Yesha Thakkar

Dr. Thakkar completed her Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola University in Chicago.  She then attended and graduated from the Georgia campus of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr, Thakkar's current interests in psychiatry are psychotherapy and stigma in mental health.  Outside of medicine, she like to watch movies and spend time with her family.

Dr. Kamille Williams

Dr. Williams is an Atlanta native.  She received her Bachelor of Sciene in Chemistry at Spelman College before pursuing her medical degree at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN.  Dr. Williams plans to pursue a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
